A good weekend for Hoffenheim: Three points and 20 million euros

It has been a good weekend for 1899 Hoffenheim: Three points in the Bundesliga after an emphatic 4-1 victory against Werder Bremen and a good offer for Carlos Eduardo.

Russian club Rubin Kazan is said to have offered 20 million euros (25.4 million dollars) for the Brazilian international and both clubs are believed to have reached an agreement.

"There are only a few formalities to sort out," coach Ralf Rangnick said after his side moved to the top of the Bundesliga standings with their 4-1 victory in their season-opener.

The midfielder joined Hoffenheim for 8.5 million euros from Gremio Porto Alegre three years ago, but Rangnick would not confirm which club he would be joining.

Manager Ernst Tanner also said he could not say which club Eduardo would be joining. "But he will be playing international football this season."

The manager said that he understood Eduardo's decision to leave the club. "He is close to becoming a regular in the Brazilian side. He needs to play international football to secure his place. It is therefore logical that he wants to take the next step, which we can not offer him."

If the 23-year-old passes the medical check, the transfer could be completed at the beginning of the week. "If a club makes us such a substantial offer, I expect that they have already achieve an agreement with the player," Rangnick said.

The coach is not desperately unhappy that Eduardo, who has not identified with the club over the last few months, has chosen to leave. "If we did not know how we could compensate his loss, we would not have accepted the offer."

The club is looking to sign two new players before the end of the transfer period on August 31. "But we will not go around and make crazy investments.

"The relationship between price and quality needs to be right. And if any club thinks that we will pay an Eduardo-bonus and pay more for players because we have sold the Brazilian, they would be wrong," Rangnick said.
